(3,275 posts)I usually felt safe but it did kind of feel a little scary at night when I walked home from the subway alone after the stores had closed. It is safer than lots of other neighborhoods because it is mostly older folks that have been there for years and families. It is a nice area but I longer train ride on the subway from Manhattan. You can get a reasonably priced, by new york city standards, apartment there. I miss Bay Ridge, there were a lot of nice stores and restaurants there.

(120 posts)And I will turn fifty-three.
Yet I still haven't cut my hair since I left the Navy in 1996.
I did offer a compromise to my fellow conservative village board members on that one though: the village of Broadwater's annual town party comes up right after my birthday. I offered to have the barber in Bridgeport come over during the dance at the community centre, and for every fifty dollars raised in support of village Friends of the Library, I would have him cut one inch off it.
My hair goes down to my waist . . . if they want to see me in a Navy haircut (that is as short as I will go), it will cost the village about a thousand dollars to do it.
The local gun shop owner (who supports the library and hates my hair) offered to put up the whole amount himself. - James, in Wyobraska.
