Never tell anyone you have a wet/dry vac
They will borrow it, and you, then tell their friends.

1. Ain't that the truth!
I would also say that also applies to any good bit of equipment that you don't want ruined, or not returned...

It is your right to say NO, of course.

34. OMG..you have one of those neighbors too?
I don't mind if she comes out and asks directly for a small favor, like fetching her mail when she is away, which is a common courtesy we have here.
But the *hints* and arm twists, that is another story. Esp. when she has family living here in town that should handle the fallen branches or door that needs painting, etc. |

15. A wet dry vac, dear
She's 85, for god's sake. I don't go that old yet. Maybe when I'm closer to 80 I'll consider it, but for now I'm just 40 and that's a little much for me.
LMFAO. Anyway, she found out I had a wet/dry vac and asked me to suck the water out of the back seat of her car because she left the window open during a deluge, and of course, I got stuck doing that on a Sunday morning because someone else in the neighborhood told her I had one. |

22. OMFG
Black bread. Oh yes, I will be making some of that. Hell yes, I will be making that. I was told to start slow, though so that I don't fuck everything up since I've never made bread before, and that seemed like good advice.
Trust me, Pumpernickel and Rye? On the table and will be cooked. God I love rich dark breads with cream cheese and with a sandwich. EDIT: Eww, that sounds sweet. I don't like sweet breads, but Rye? Yum. |

1 1/2 cups water
2 tablespoons cider vinegar 2 1/2 cups bread flour 1 cup rye flour 1 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons margarine 2 tablespoons dark corn syrup 1 tablespoon brown sugar 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder 1 teaspoon instant coffee granules 1 tablespoon caraway seed 1/4 teaspoon fennel seed (optional) 2 teaspoons active dry yeast |

but the corn syrup, the brown sugar and the cocoa powder. (Yes, I possess instant coffee, and it's for emergency purposes - I also possess instant unsweetened tea).
Oh, and I'd have to use butter instead. I don't use oleo. Ick. |

You own a truck and are capable of picking things up that most people can't, and suddenly, you are probably everyone's mover. I'm the handy-woman. I'm, thankfully, too small to be able to haul furniture and prefer small vehicles.

Only allow them to borrow the low quality stuff. Good tools make a huge difference and they won't return the high quality ones. I know because I think we have a tool or two of OUR neighbours

Return your neighbor's tools if they are high quality. And for heaven's sake, don't go over to help them with something and proceed to use them without giving them back.
