Crude by Western standards; including and especially the sound reproduction.
But these guys shred. This song was recorded in 1983, and has a dark, guitar-heavy sound that wouldn't be popular in the West until the late eighties.
Kino and groups like them wouldn't have lasted long playing and recording songs with political themes. So they sang about daily life in the USSR. Not bad, all things considered.

Have you visited the blog http://the-russian-rock.com ? Look through the archives and they offer "Russian Nuggets" which are the earliest recordings the've found of Soviet era rock and roll, truly underground, recorded in basements with casette recorders...
