I'm considering becoming a vegetarian

Lately whenever I eat any type of meat I get kinda sick feeling after. While eating it I even have the urge to spit it out sometimes cause it doesn't taste right. My doctor said there's nothing wrong with me and suggested making the switch to being a vegetarian he's been one for 20 years and says he doesn't miss meat.

I personally can't do it at this time.
I tried going vegetarian for a month, and I hurt.
I hurt a lot! I had to add fish to my diet.

and I eat fish, but do not eat anything else with hair, fur or feathers. So I guess I am really a pescatarian.

I think I was dumb about it when I tried.
I was doing a work out program with an emphasis on weights at the time I tried.
After a week, I felt weak, and in pain.
I think I did not take in enough protein.

She was vegan for about ten years, but added eggs, milk, and cheese back into her diet. We have veggie 'meats' all the time. Beer Brats by Tofurky are fantastic.

I'm a 'pescatarian.' Which is vegetarian plus fish. But I only eat fish when we eat out, and that's probably in about 25% of the meals we eat out.

"...The earth may very well be running out of clean water, and by some estimates it takes 100 times more water (up to 2,500 gallons) to produce a pound of grain-fed beef than it does to produce a pound of wheat. We’re also running out of land: somewhere around 45 percent of the world’s land is either directly or indirectly involved in livestock production, and as forests are cleared to create new land for grazing animals or growing feed crops, the earth’s capacity to sequester greenhouse gases (trees are especially good at this) diminishes..."

I "go" vegetarian from time to time and even vegan , it feels good and kind of flushes out the system .

Who knows what controls our cravings after all these years ? We are lucky to have this choice but it sure gets confusing at times
knowing about food as big business .

But personally like I said something about meat makes me ill after and even during eating. I know how to cook I do it for a living but I can't make myself want to eat it much anymore.

The more I study about our human eating patterns the more confusing the whole thing gets .I read that everyone one of us adults has two pounds of parasites and bacteria we carry around inside us that enables us to " live "

Eat as little meat as you feel you can/should. I do hope that if this is a big dietary change you will have your doctor monitor your health as you transition.

Best wishes!

I usually only eat steak once a year anyway and the last time I did was when I first noticed I was having the issue of meat not sitting well with me. But for the last year i've been doing more meatless days during the week.Comparing the two I notice I feel more sick and sluggish the days I eat meat than the days I don't. So I figure I may cut out meat completely.I can't go vegan I like yogurt and cheese way to much.

You will find what suits you best. For me I am mostly vegetarian but vegan as often as I can be. I do still like cheese and eggs so not always vegan. I find I feel really good most of the time. I do need to keep up my protein. Somehow I can't quite get it right but have been doing veggie now since July 4, 2007 and am very happy. I had not eaten red meat for about 15 years before that so I did not have that step to take.
