Patrick Stewart, a 72-Year-Old Man, Just Ate His First Slice of Pizza

"My first ever pizza 'slice'. Please note: the authentic NY fold," the Park Sloper tweeted today. How is this possible?

We don't know. It is incomprehensible that a man — particularly one who has spent much of his adult life in Los Angeles and New York — could go 72 years without ever consuming a single slice of pizza. Stewart does emphasize the word slice in his tweet, so perhaps he's eaten plenty of whole pizzas. Still, though. You'd really have to go out of your way to pull that off. One guy we know went so long without having tried pie that "not eating pie" became sort of his thing, and he embraced it, but we doubt that's what's going on here. Anyway, congrats, and nice technique on the fold.

Update, 3:02 p.m.: Stewart met his wife at Franny's, which does not do slices.

Update, 10:02 p.m.: Stewart tweeted a "clarification" that still fails to really explain how this happened:

To clarify: 1) I've never had a "slice" 2) I've been a Habs fan all of 4 weeks 3) I'm also a fan of Bloomberg's soda legislation.

I echo the article: how the hell does that happen? Have we failed as a country that we never took Patrick Stewart out for pizza till now?

You New Yorkers know what I mean.

The rest of you, well, visit NYC and order a coffee in a pizza parlor, deli, or other.

...look at him. He can not eat anything he wants. Dude is friggin' hot. In fact, he could whisper, "I don't eat pizza" in my ear and I'd melt into a little heap of blush.

And besides, he still hasn't had a real slice of pizza. You need to be in Chicago for real pizza.

but I'm pretty geek that way.

Strike that, I'm still only a nerd. Geeks actually understand the technobabble. Nerds get laid occasionally.

And, I say that as a native Chicagoan, and as a huge pizza snob. Pizza was born there, and I'm sure Mr. Stewart has been there at least once in his life. That alone is reason to be surprised by his revelation here.

The Picard who won the Nobel Prize for chemistry. The Picard's who settled the first Martian colony, but never the Picard who perfected the pizza oven:
