(12,132 posts)I think a goodly sized portion of being a hipster is being completely oblivious to one's hipsterness even while pointing and laughing at others for being hipsters. I think the second one realizes one has hipster tendencies the hip just drains away like impurities from a leach field...only to be absorbed by surrounding hipsters in the never-ending hipster circle of life.

(38,309 posts)I own two Kodak Brownie Hawkeye cameras, I clip 120 rolls down with a fingernail clipper to fit, and I develop the film myself.
Oh, I also like Polaroids, and have been known to buy products from http://www.lomography.com and http://www.the-impossible-project.com. My Polaroid Super Shooter is maybe the most "hipster" camera I have.
But no, I swear to you, I'm too old to be a "hipster" and I have never bought an Apple computer. But I have found some nice ones on the curb with "FREE" signs on them. Last time I plugged it in my SE/30 still worked.

(17,502 posts)it means you have good taste. Once you go Mac, you never go back.
I have Linux, so I guess that makes me a nerd?

(7,515 posts)I am so clueless with computers...my mac is easy enough for even me to use! I have never cared for pigeonholing people... but I guess some do. It was an interesting video.

(8,492 posts)...back in Chicago I was most definitely a yuppie. I've discovered you can take the yuppie out of the urban, but you can't take the urban out of the yuppie.

(8,217 posts)However, at some points I was considered a trend setter.
Where I show something months to a year before it becomes cool, thus inspiring geekdom.
Perhaps I may be a hipster if one considers those who takes from different sources and adopts something cool, before discarding it once it becomes mainstream and over-run by geeks(even if I am a self proclaimed geek in certain things).
Still, if it is only in regards to dress, I can't help it, my work tends to keep me in a suit and tie, so that's about all I wear.
I also only go for solid colors and pinstripes. I avoid anything that shows an icon or brand name.
So, I guess I might not be a hipster, but a self proclaimed snob.
