I feed my cat on top of a table because if I put her dish on the floor her two doggie siblings would gobble it up before she had any chance. At 18 years of age, she has earned the right to be pampered anyway.

I have had cats in the past.

do NOT like them on my dinner table, or the counter, especially when I'm trying to prepare a meal for myself.

Also, as a past, and soon to be again a dawg owner, I wouldn't/won't allow them the table or counter - as well as not encouraging them to beg food while I am having my own.

That's me - do as you wish in your own home.
