Mayo is of the devil, and mustard just annoys me
For some reason, the Big Mac is an exception for me on this
Dunno why, it's the only exception

I don't eat sourdough...ew.
Crusty white or rye? Absolutely.
Add some cheese and mayo and I'll be over in a minute.
Edit: I'm sure that 'one slice of bacon' is a really, really long slice that can be torn into at least three pieces.

(8,492 posts)That shit is gross. The name alone screams, "ick"...sour...dough. Yuck.

(18,021 posts)The other name for "sourdough", which is really just a long lived "starter" using the natural yeasts that hang around most peoples kitchens, is levain.

It's not icky unless you don't treat it well. And then it can eat your kitchen.
This from the Wikipedia article on sourdough:
Bread made from 100 percent rye flour, which is very popular in the northern half of Europe, is usually leavened with sourdough. Baker's yeast is not useful as a leavening agent for rye bread, as rye does not contain enough gluten.

I don't like bread, in general. I'm known to enjoy a crusty roll with a stick of butter or a sandwich made with a light rye. Other than that, bread is a meat and cheese holder, only and should be seen and not tasted.

(18,021 posts)out of the culinary equation is a bit like leaving out salt when you're cooking.
There is a whole universe of tastes when it comes to bread: from heavy dark rye to feather light croissants to foccacia with herbs to Indian chapatis.
And there's a reason it's occasionally referred to as the "staff of life". Totally possible to live on just bread and water. Not for any length of time, but possible.

(8,976 posts)...just from a socialogical view I wonder about the dynamic of this thread. You posted a perfectly nice sandwich recipe and the initial response was positive. My post from a smart-assed cheesaholic was just some fun lounge type snark. But MAN -either a lot of people here are raving violent cheesaholics or it's pretty easy to turn this mob into a lynch mob. Thanks for the fun Pinko...

(46,179 posts)Dump the ham.
Switch out the romaine for butter lettuce. Or spinach.
Add: brown mustard, red onion, italian peppers, and cheese. Cheddar or swiss.
