Mine still carries her two pens and paper notes just like your husband but she's upgraded her slide rule (and later calculator) to a very smart phone.

Still, her really important notes always go on paper, just in case...

I've been enjoying the reporting too! I swear that the day you posted the pics from Rome that you were there the same day my daughter was. I think some of the same people are in both sets of pictures.

After reading your posts and seeing all of the pictures, I would REALLY like to make that my destination for our 30th anniversary. How is all the walking? It looked like it was a lot! Guess that would be great incentive to kick up my fitness plan -- I would have 2 yrs

We are having a good time, but I have to say that the walking is very hard. The streets are made of irregular cobblestones and they are tough to walk on.

I have to be very careful, and watch where I put my feet. So far this trip, I haven't fallen, but it has been crazy. Having to watch every step really interferes with my ability to see the sights...

It's the one thing that I don't enjoy.

And what a strange place Switzerland is.

Very clean, mostly. And tidy.

But very, very expensive.

We're going to Gruyere later in the week, and maybe do some wine trails, but I'm not finding it "fun".

And where in Tuscany are you?

We stayed near Buonconvento - halfway between Montalcino and Montepulciano. Loved Siena.

If you're near Siena, the Palio happens around now. You should try and see it.
