Trouble sleeping last night-- was half in & half out when I saw this weird thing on TV:

I don't know what the movie was but after seeing this, this, nightmarish guitar-y thing I had to track down the video using a bit of the dialog just to make sure it wasn't my imagination.

And grandfather of Win and Will Butler, the brothers who form the backbone of Arcade Fire ...

It is said that the passing of Alvino was part of the inspiration that led to the production of Funeral, Arcade Fire's first album ... and the rest is history ...

What I find fascinating about this clip? ... The vocoder like treatment of the vocals ... Alvin was WAY ahead of his time .... thanks for posting ...

They couldn't have an actual black person in their orchestra, so they invented "stringie"?
