2. I also remember the Spiegel catalogue commercial they'd play - 60609!

lol, never thought in a million years I'd move from a 97530 to a 60030 and be so close to that 60609! Chicago might as well been a foreign country to this Southern Oregon foothills gal.

7. I was a little too old when Charley and Humphrey splashed to really get into it

My fond memories were back in the fifties with KPIX's Captain Fortune and, well, of course The Wonderful World of Brother Buzz.

11. Opening scene was grand

Film of Captain Fortune Swagger down the gangplank of the Balclutha, catches a cable car, hangs on the outside with one arm with his ditty bag over his shoulder, up the hill, hops off the moving cable car in front of the station on Van Ness (creative license), runs inside...cut to the live show inside! Magic!

12. So do I -- but on the west coast.

And too long ago for such an ad to appear in the TV Guide or anywhere else. It was just ON when Grandma said it was on, and how she knew I will never know.

16. You bet. Wouldn't it be fun if it still existed? I miss local movie showings.

Strange and interesting local TV personalities are going the way of the dinosaur. It's too bad.
