The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsVaunted Lounge Vibes please!! My sister is going in for a kidney/liver transplant right now!
As an RN she contracted hepatitis as a nursing student. She had a bout of tylenol poisoning 6 years ago and her kidneys and liver suffered some major complications last January - the docs said it was an inevitable course of events. She's been on dialysis for the past year waiting for a transplant. She's such a good person - she's the director of county mental health for a major county and has been intrumental in transforming the lives of the poor, disadvantaged and mentally ill for a couple of decades. She's only 55 and has so many more years to contribute her special humour, grace and love in her work
And tonight's the night! She's going in now. Her name is Chris if it helps....
I've already booked my flight to San Francisco (she's at the California Pacific Med Center) for tomorrow am.
Please lounge vibes and hugs. For my sister, yes of course, but somewhere else there's a family grieving the loss of their own loved one.

I hope your sister does extremely well and goes on to live many more very productive years, doing her valuable work!
Chris is in my thoughts!

(10,348 posts)Friggin Tylenol! Stuff has been promoted as super-safe for years, and the warning was right on the package - in writing so tiny you'd need a microscope to see it.
And some vibes from the master of vibes, Cal Tjader - send 'em out special for Chris!

(23,272 posts)No surgery - they had my sister prepped and ready to go. When the kidney and liver arrived at the hospital, the liver was simply too damaged. Since both organs have to come from the same donor, her surgery was scrubbed dammit. The kidney did go on to someone else thank god. Waiting, waiting, waiting again.... alas.
Thanks to everyone for the vibes. I hope she gets one soon - she's pretty sick and struggling.
Peace.
