A WTF story! 13 armed personal raid animal shelter, find and kill Bambi!"

Something is really wrong in our country! I am at a loss for words. Logic and common sense has left our country leaving bullies and thugs in charge.

snip-

"In Wisconsin, nine Department of Natural Resources agents and four deputy sheriffs stormed the Society of St. Francis, an animal shelter on the Kenosha-Illinois border two weeks ago. Upon rounding up the employees, the extraordinarily armed team searched for a baby deer named Giggles, killed it, and carried it out in a body bag, much to the shock of the workers."

The overused phrase "There's something is really wrong with our country" gets tossed about every time somebody reads one newspaper item that upsets them. I think that kind of reaction lacks perspective. There's something wrong with the idiots who stormed into an animal shelter and shot a captive deer. I haven't read the story, but I'd hazard a guess this is a story of a bureaucracy gone awry.

That said, the bureaucracy in question doesn't accurately represent the millions of good hearted people in this nation, nor does it even represent the vast preponderance of public servants who serve their communities with an eye on how the little rules can sometimes overwhelm the honest intentions of the laws they follow. I think it's a more hopeful sign that nearly every decent person who reads a story like this gets angered and offended.

That's not something wrong with America. That's something right with Americans. I'd even extrapolate that generalization to say there's something right with human beings, that any person would be shocked by this and would want to find out what went wrong and see it fixed. It's not all doom and gloom. It's one small tragedy among a million wonderful stories of how people help each other and do the right things in life that never get reported on.

Live in gratitude and horrible bullshit like this terrible event becomes something easier to set right.

It's the culture of our country that has allowed such perversions to evolve. Some areas are worse than others...but it is society as a whole that has permitted events like this to happen.

It could very well have happened in Michigan or Alabama... California or Alaska.

I have witnessed first hand DNR officer abuse of animals many years ago here in the U.P. of Michigan.... although not something as mind-boggling as the above story.

Thanks for your input.

by this person, who had the stupidity to liken the investigation of an illegally kept wild animal to, in her words, "a drug raid":

Giggles was scheduled to be transported to a licensed rehabilition center the next day. I don't believe it was by accident that they showed up the day before she was scheduled to leave in order to kill her. If you google the shelter name or the president, Cindy Schultz, you'll see they've been targeted for harassment by hateful people that she wouldn't adopt dogs out to in the past (because they had already "gotten rid of" the dog in question once) and also seems to be targeted for harassment by DNR.

I sent 2 emails to that vile cxxx with the title of warden and told her just what I thought of her. Too stupid to be employed. Too stupid to be armed.
