positive thoughts, energy and prayers if you are so inclined are welcome.
prognosis extremely positive - it's a pituitary adenoma.
thanks DU.
TEN HOURS LATER: she's finally in recovery and doing well. you've all kept me company during this time - i'm so far away from them it's been really stressful. DU is wonderful, thank you all

(31,308 posts)i work with a couple MDs and i went to one this morning and said, talk me down, my daughter-in-law's going in for brain surgery this morning. he said she will be so much better after the surgery and the worst thing that could happen is actually not life threatening or involving permanent injury/disability.
redqueen
(115,186 posts)glad you have some MDs close at hand to help talk you down.
Also, I hope you don't mind me asking, but did you actually say 'talk me down'?
yep. i said it.

(6,664 posts)I had brain surgery 21 years ago for an acousic neuroma. Positive attitude is key, that's what my doctor told me. And here I am, 21 years later.

(31,308 posts)dear CaliforniaPeggy! she's been in for longer now than was predicted, unless i'm getting my math wrong. the nurses are updating my son and say it's going well.
i can't wait until it's over, i'm at work and completely useless.
