Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI must have caught something from one of my patients. I'm sicker than a dog.
Fatigue and chills. Some nasty virus confined me at home for the day. There was no way I was going in to work like this. Anybody want to talk? I'm bored...

(149,627 posts)I'm so sorry you're sick. And you did exactly the right thing by staying home! And you should probably stay home tomorrow too...
I hope the weather is pretty where you are...the sun's out here, and it's chilly but beautiful.
I hope your nasty virus leaves pronto!

(66,380 posts)I'm already feeling a little bit better, but I imagine that it's just because I'm dosed up with DayQuil & ibuprofen. I've got less than 24 hours to get ship-shape again. Thursdays are always busy at the homeless clinic...

(23,973 posts)I am by no means a medical professional such as yourself, good sir, but I have heard from good authorities on the subject that American Bourbon Whiskey kills the most virulent viruses known to man.
My advice is to start with 100cc admininstered orally, repeat as necessary.

(27,597 posts)Doctor says I have acute upper respiratory infection and prescribed antibiotics. Sinus drainage like a waterfall. How in the world could one little head produce all that, I wonder. Got the shivers pretty bad a couple of nights. Mrs. Lasher had 4 blankets on me.
Eventually settled in my chest. Hacking and gagging bigtime. At one point I was afraid I'd developed pneumonia but I guess not. That's slowly clearing up but now I'm getting a sore throat.
This is week number four this has been going on.

(66,380 posts)I'm much better now; hope you are, too.
FWIW, I hardly ever prescribe antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection. The vast majority of URI's are viral, which antibiotics won't touch. I'm guessing you either had an actual fever (101 degrees F or higher) or else demonstrable lung involvement, in which case, it would no longer be an upper, but a lower respiratory infection. Get better soon...

(27,597 posts)I am a little better. I've downgraded from a DEFCON 1 to about a DEFCON 3. This is pretty bad though, having gone on for 4 weeks now.

(8,747 posts)I had a fever and chills for 36 hours, no other symptoms. No sinus, or even upper respiratory problems. Weird.
