what is likely a stereotype of Canadians: polite, thoughtful, unobtrusive drivers.

I'm guessing that's not the case?

If most of your Canadian driving experiences have been in my neck of the woods, then yes, I can see why you'd think we're all polite. Shift one province over and you'll find Dumbass Central. Too many overcompensation trucks piloted by rednecks and yahoos.

I like to think there is a place in North America one can go to get away from them, but I guess not...

Anyway, yeah, my only experience driving in Canada has been in Victoria and Vancouver, and drivers there are mostly sane.

My brother and I visited Toronto last year, but he did the driving, so I don't know how things are there.
