I say, Yes. It did a Triple Lundy over the shark.

It's so bad this year that I feel embarassed for the performers on the show.

(4,851 posts)rumor is that the probable death in the last episode will be confirmed in the first episode of next season. Show is done, stick a fork in it.

(20,176 posts)The Northman is dead.
To quote them (roughly): "Since the dead of Godric, Eric has lived for his sister. Now with Nora dead, he's empty...and in his desire to be alone, he isolated himself...not knowing that when Warlow died, the power from Warlow's blood would die with him. In such an isolated spot, with no shelter, Eric had no choice but to burn...And he burned."
He dead.

(4,851 posts)Well, who knows what dead really means in the world of TB since VAmps are technically already dead. But in some form, the Northman will be back as a regular next season.

But thanks to show boss Brian Buckner, fans won't have to wait until next summer to find out if the hunky bloodsucker played by Alexander Skarsgard will live to see the new season. In an interview with TVLine, Buckner said the ancient vampire will indeed be back.
"I can tell you that Alexander Skarsgard is going to be part of the next season of 'True Blood,' " he told the website. "He will be a series regular. I'm not going to take Alex Skarsgard out of people's living rooms."
Maybe he will become a Godric/Lilith ghost type character, or maybe he will be a slightly sunburned Viking God. But no matter what, we get more of Eric next season! Whether he is "alive" or not remains to be seen.

(20,176 posts)Now, rather than discussing whether TB has lost its way, the viewers spend the season-break trying to figure what the burning of Eric means and what shape he'll be in next season. Maybe Pam saved him but they'd both be pretty fucked up at that point.

(4,851 posts)By putting in the Eric question, it gives viewers a question they need to know the answer to. I did not understand why he did not drive himself into the ice and snow. He can toss cars like they are pebbles, surely he can quickly dig a hole in the icy snow covered mountaintops.

(8,352 posts)Alan Ball left production. The show had a different producer much of last season, and yet another at the end of this season who is taking over the show. And it is bloody obvious to my partner and I.
Ball wanted True Blood to be an adult vampire show with lots of sex and mature themes. I swear the last few episodes of this past season were like watching a campy John Waters film - vampires playing volleyball in the sun, alpha sex boy Jason now some vampire's sex toy, first he is good Worlo then he is really evil Worlo, and Eric sunbathing naked in the snow covered mountains?
Bluntly, if they killed off Eric, we are done.

(8,217 posts)So... This season was better than the last, with the exception of the ending.
The season end was terribly weak and disjointed.
Either way, since there is only going to be one more season left... I guess a zombie apocalypse makes sense.
