You sort of live for the thrill of the job in some ways too. I can imagine you get to see some shit no one wants to too though!

You're so sweet!

Not such a boring night, after all. I just took a call. Had to send a dialysis patient to the emergency room.

But I'm back and ready for a glass of wine...

We played those things in music class when I was in elementary school. They were fun.

I've already viewed the video twice. Thanks!

Anyone with a medical bent will have read about the cardinal signs of Yersinia pestis ages ago: Painful enlarged axillary lymph nodes, with associated secondary symptoms.

I got the ticket back. I have to put in my two week notice Saturday since he is going off first to the corp. meeting and then going on vacation.

But on Sunday I will not have anyone in store with me. I have to watch my back and serve customers and do the work of 2. All because they don't see that they need more help than just 1 full time, 1 part time, 1 associate manager and 1 manager.

Ya know how it feels I bet. This time it was Comcast splicing 48 pairs of fiber out in the field and we have a site on one of those pairs; which they did in about an hour. I'm tired but impressed.

I sit at home, waiting for a call, but when I get one, I don't have to go anywhere. I just talk to the patient over the phone and give medical advice. So all things considered, it's a pretty easy gig to get paid for.

But as with a lot of things in medicine, the reality of some of the calls negates the idealism one feels initially when wanting to help people.

I get calls from people demanding narcotics, among other drugs. I get calls from patients requesting medication refills, when they should have done that during clinic hours. I get calls from parents who tell me their child has a fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and shortness of breath, and asking me: "What should I do?" instead of taking them to the Emergency Room right away, which is what I advise them to do.

I also have a shut-in patient who calls every once in a while complaining of self-inflicted injuries ( likely invented) just to have someone to talk to.

Occasions in which I am called upon to do some real diagnostic medicine are pretty rare.
