I'm thinking of getting another pet

Cat.....Bird...Fish...of the sort, but I hate dealing with them passing ....is it really good for you to bond with something you know only lives for 7 years to 20 and you know you will be there to see them go?

I have five cats and I accept the fact I will have to see them die eventually but the time they are here give me joy.

for me cause I have had pets from cats, ferret, fish, parrot, wide variety I'm 41 and I think I have had 9 animal friends and it's just heartbreaking knowing that I will see them go. Granted you are right they were with me and I made them happy and that does make me feel good, but seeing death be it Human or animal it gets harder the more you do it.

And just remember that their death will come at a time when they are sick and ready to go.

When I have put down my pets I made sure the last thing they saw in this world was my face.

It was hard but you get through it.

Follow your heart.

That was a few years ago and he's a little bigger now, but not much.

Your heartache when they finally pass is hard, but it's so much better than a kitty living in a cage for years, or else being put down. Please help one, or better yet, two!

I've had many a creature die and I've had to euthanize some that I loved dearly. I still miss my Golden, Joe, after nearly ten years. But oh, what a dog. What a good, good dog.

rats and mice for pets because they pass too soon. One of my favorite pets ever was a little tan and white mouse named Demon he was so incredibly smart and he even responded to the slow blink the way that cats do. When he and my other pet mouse Pudge died it was just too much.

I haven't had to deal with the death of a cat since I was a kid. My Partner and I had 13 cats but we broke up and he took 5 of the cats so I currently have 8 cats with 1 elderly one having health problems and she is getting too skinny. I'm hoping her meds will start working in the next week or two.

I read of the passing of DU'ers pets passing and then I start thinking about mine and I just break down.

I have never had the same issue with Fish maybe it was because the Fish were my Partner's pets and I didn't have much interest in them although he did have a rather large Goldfish named Hank for a really long time and when he died it was kind of sad. I think most of the fish went nameless.

I don't know how long cockatoos, budgies, etc. live

I've always enjoyed parrots and thought I might like to have on, but I'm not big on cage cleaning.
When I was a youngster we occasionally cared for a neighbor's parrot when she traveled. It was mildly interesting.
