That's what bothered you? None of the sights made up for that?

Or is this pure sarcasm? I can't tell.

I got to see my friends. Just surprised Coors isn't there.

Yes, it bothered me as I don't drink other beers.

It was a legitimate concern. I don't do good with strong beer and I don't drink liquor.

I'm sorry, but that's just astonishing.

Live a little! Take a chance! You never know what you're missing if you don't even try something different.

This sounds like complaining about not being able to find Wonderbread, Velveeta Cheese and Hershey bars to me.

I'm in Germany for 3 months a year and I always love the food.

and we were in Munich, at a bar drinking very local beer brewed in a very old brewery that we'd never ever be able to get in the US, and this American sits a few seats away from us and asks the waitress if they have Budweiser. Well, there is an Austrian beer called Budweiser that is totally NOT USA "Bud". SO she brings him that and he has a fit. "No no no, BUDDD-WYYY--ZERRRR" he says, very arrogantly. She says "THATTTT ISSSS BUDDDVYYYZERRRR..." very sarcastically back to him and she goes to the bar and brings the bottle back. Oh he was like NO way, no how, I don't know what you're pulling over on me, I'm an american and I want American beer, BUDWEISER and the bartender, who's had it about up to his neck by now says very nicely and with the most awesome German accent ever "oh Sorry sir, she misunderstood you. She thought you said Budweiser, which is what she brought you. See, what you are asking for is translated roughly to "Stale Dog Piss," and we do not allow that to be imported to our country. So very sorry about that. We can, however, offer you authentic beer in its place, if you'd like...."

It
was
fucking
awesome

Asking for horrible non-beer Beer in Europe, and then getting annoyed that it's not served? That's rich.

You're right, Coors,Bud, Miller & other American macrobrews are undrinkable for me, they're not beer. I would love to drink REAL beer in both Germany and Belgium. Especially Belgium.

On edit: Actually it's a Czech beer called Budweiser Budvar in Europe, and Czechvar in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Panama, Brazil and Peru. I've never seen it here in the US, but I've seen a few reviews of it.

I haven't had any non-microbrew or homebrew in so long that I'm not even sure....maybe 5 years ago...or longer? The last major company brew we've had was probably a Heineken that was in our minifridge in Thailand....

Just happens that it is almost the anniversary of my family's first European trip, coincided with SPUTNIK! (October 4, 1957.)

I think we took 10-14 days, not sure, to visit England, Spain, France, Italy and Switzerland. Was nominally 'business' for my Dad, who owned a small travel agency at the time, and the International Association of Travel Agents had their annual convention in Madrid. Got us kids (me and my brother) into the travel mode!

You might be it.

As no one of European heritage could possibly like one of the most awful creations of American beer culture .... and an insult to the very name of beer itself ....

I question your veracity.

married this nerdy guy who went to MIT (she's originally from Thailand; he's a Caucasian). After they were married they found jobs in high tech for one year in Nice, France. They kept complaining and complaining to my cousin's wife that they couldn't find any French or Ranch dressing for their salad in France and were desperate to have her mail them some from the States.
