Hey - hope all is well. I see that everyone is rushing to tell you what to do. How to dress, how to sing, how to dance, etc.
Seems like old times, doesn't it?
I'm sure as a pawn of the House of Maus you had many sessions where "professionals" told you the same kinds of things.
Well guess what, YOU DON'T HAVE TO LISTEN TO ANY OF THEM.
That's right. You're over 18 and can make your own decisions. You can tell them all to fuck off, or solicit their advice. There's the word right there: advice. That means they can try and tell you what to do until they're blue in the face and you don't have to do it.
You have enough money to take some risks, but if you take a risk make sure it's one YOU want to take, not because some focus group somewhere said something.
I'm a dad and I have a daughter, and if she were in your place I would tell her the same thing.
Remember - only Miley Cyrus can tell Miley Cyrus what to do.
Other than that, I really can't offer any advice. You see, I've never been a pop star, nor female, nor that good at dancing.

I love Miley, and hope she continues to make cheesy pop songs that I love so much.

and where was the outrage about Robin Thicke's x-rated video?

(19,491 posts)It was a music video. In the video thicke is fully clothed and spent the video dancing with topless women. It was hard for me to watch it and I have watched my share of porn. In porn everyone is naked but this video really bothered me and I don't know exactly why, it just seemed like the women were just props/objects.

(55,476 posts)My question is this: did she want to make that video? If so, cool.
If not, why?

You have lots of money.
Give me some of it. A $100k would do nicely.
I thank you in advance!

(4,489 posts)I judge her by her music, and her music sucks rancid cheese. Another celebrity/musician/whatever for me to ignore.

(13,324 posts)Nothing against Ms. O'Connor - I've always admired her gutsiness, e.g. "Fight the real enemy!" - but in her "letter" she was quite obviously viewing Miley through the prism of her own negative experiences, as a young woman in the music biz. Whereas yours is simple common sense, something that, sadly, is rather lacking in a lot of people.

(37,481 posts)You may scoff and say that Miley and "artistic integrity" don't belong in the same sentence, but apparently she has some talent, as I saw in one video.
She's making a ton of money doing what's she doing. I have no idea how much of it is really "her" or her being told/asked what to do. I admit, it would be very hard to pass up millions of dollars to be true to my soul. I don't envy her, and she is so young. I wish you the best, Miley. Despite my earlier laughs at your VMA performance, you seem like a decent person overall.

(4,299 posts)At some point, true. I see a young woman whose artistry was strictly controlled during her Disney years and she is testing her limit. I am more likely to shake my head at Rhianna.
