Seriously, I hope this doesn't affect his work. This is my nightmare too, the day I wake up and years of work-product is gone. It's why everything is on an external disk and backed up on the HD. The odds of them both failing at the same time are nil.

...source files are still sitting on the servers for my individual clients but I still have to go out and recreate all of my FTP logins, etc. PLUS all of my Photoshop comps...which I often use to design my sites...are gone.

Once I get a couple of bucks in my pocket I can go the data recovery route. Until then, its going to hurt a bit.

I have a different complex password for each website I visit. And I use different email addresses. And yes, backing up is a always the best solution.

Plus this Password generating tool from PC Tools. http://www.pctools.com/guides/password/

...and after this incient am using it again. They have a 5 GB free account, larger storage in paid accounts. You pick one or more folders, and the program syncs every time you add, remove, or update a document in that folder.

I use RoboForm for my passwords, and you can output a backup file from that into "My Documents" and that will also be synced in SugarSync.

I just took my eye off the ball and am paying the price. Won't do that again.
