I wrote out an entire medical-themed OP to post in GD. Then, regardless of how innocuous the subject matter may have been, I thought about the howling hysterical hate-hyenas in GD who have made sort of a second career slamming me against the walls of my own threads, and decided not to post it.

Sometimes one needs to back down, to take care of oneself, to stay still...
I would rather say, not that you're getting old, but that you're wise...
When we're lucky, very lucky, wisdom comes with age.

(423 posts)I've lived here (mostly on the hill, occasionally in the valley) off and on for most of my life. When you posted your pics, I saw the town in a better light. I had never realized how idyllic the place was, until then. (Too close to the forest to see the trees?)
My parents moved from Los Angeles to Tacoma before I was born, to escape what they saw as a rising crime rate there. (Both were originally from this area, though.) Then they moved from Tacoma to our little town when I was a toddler, for the same reason.
It still hasn't lost its charm. I've found you can talk to the police here without them automatically assuming you might be a criminal. (They don't change their stance the second they hear your voice, as if they're getting ready to unsnap their holster. Tacoma cops, on the other hand, seem to think they work in a war zone.)

He was writing about himself, tongue-in-cheek, but I feel that way on this issue...
