(21,925 posts)when I hear a very young person perform with the subtlety, emotional, and professional maturity of an adult performer. This 10 year old girl's playing also gives me chills down my spine, Sarah Chang. Studying violin since the age of three, she was only five years old when she auditioned for the Julliard School Of Music by performing Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor and was accepted into their special program. She was only eight years old when she gave her first concert with the New York Philharmonic and Zubin Mehta. She's considered one of the most extraordinary child prodigies who ever lived. That's violin virtuoso Yehudi Menuhin commenting about her on the tape who became one of her mentors.
