http://www.katu.com/news/local/Middle-school-coach-plans-to-take-team-to-Hooters---or-lose-job-trying-230652161.htmlBurbach won't be back to coach the team next year following his decision to take the team to the restaurant, which features waitresses in revealing uniforms. The decision seems to be mutual; Burbach was an unpaid volunteer with no plans to be back, and the school was unhappy with the trip and the ensuing controversy....
We thought we were going to a family sports bar, which I still contend is a family sports bar - they allow kids in there 24 hours a day, he said. "The people who have objected I think really need to do a little research or give me a call."
The schools athletic director disagreed. He sent a letter to parents saying he doesnt support the decision and feels the location objectifies women.
In part, the letter said: "Some might say that this restaurant objectifies women. I would tend to agree. I think it sends the wrong message to our young men and that saddens and worries me the most."

Hey, it could've been worse. Imagine the uproar if he'd taken them to Olive Garden.

(17,621 posts)1. I would simply not allow my kid to go.
If the kid didn't like it, too bad. Problem solved.

(39,343 posts)2. why was he taking kids to a "family sports bar"?
I wouldn't want any coach taking my kid to a sports bar. I've been to Hooters a few times (they were the closest restaurant to the dock and we had a limited time to eat and return to the ship) and it was always full of creepy business guys drinking way too much and being pushy flirting with young waitresses. I wouldn't want my kid exposed to drunk asshole pervs. I do take my kid to a classy gastropub with people who act civil.

My 11 year old grandson wants to go there.
It's perfect for the 11 year old mentality.
