Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI lost my beloved Mina this afternoon.
Mina lived to 17 1/2 years old, all filled with as much love as you can imagine. She made every day of my life during that time worth living. I was always excited to see her and she was always excited to see me. She was my constant companion and my best friend. In recent months she had began to decline but I was able to keep her chronic renal failure under control. She suffered an eye injury that required corrective surgery and post-surgery she developed chylothorax, which is a fluid effusion in the chest. We had the fluid removed and that helped for a while but she needed to get it removed again and in the meantime she had lost her appetite and her kidneys went all to hell. I did the only thing I could do for her this afternoon and let her go. The vet tech who loved her almost as much as I did sent her on her way. I made a music video this weekend to celebrate her life and I want to have Mina spread far and wide. She was the best thing that ever happened to me and I am going to miss her and all the wonderful little things she used to do terribly.

(2,201 posts)It's obvious from your video that she added a lot to your life. It's equally obvious that you gave her a great life.

(19,288 posts)You will treasure that forever. I hope someday you can watch it without crying. So sorry for your loss.
My kitty has recently had to start meds, and is looking at a surgery to remove some tumors. I am trying to figure out what to do. I could be in your shoes soon.

(19,288 posts)This little film made me cry and not just for his kitty but for all the Kitties we love. My kitty is 15, too. I can see changes in her, everyday that seem like signs, that I won't have her a lot longer.
I cried at the vet, just like somebody else's recent OP. I was in the same room where Toonsis and Bob, were put to sleep. I hope I sounded empathetic to her and not like I just wanted to jump on her band wagon and steal her platform of grief.
This might sound dumb, but I'm feeling your pain.

(9,796 posts)We never have enough time with our babies. It might not help right now but know that she knew how much you adored her. She was a beautiful girl who knew how much she was loved.
My SO worships Bast. I'll ask her to say a prayer for Mina.

'twas Heaven here with you.

(15,220 posts)Seventeen and half years! Wow! I am always grateful to hear of fur-babies that are loved, even amongst the sadness of losing them. Thank you for loving her, and she knew that, in that she loved you back, of course.
I wish peace and comfort for you.
