(3,065 posts)But first you have to get to the bios screen. And it varies by the motherboard manufacturer. Usually when you do a boot up you will see something like
Press F2 to enter setup or some such command line. Look sharp during the boot up. If you blink you could miss it.
On the setup screen there should be a command to enter bios options. Go there. You can't use your mouse on this screen. It's all up&down arrow movement and the enter button. There are several bios screens you can page through to find your memory cache.
WARNING:
Playing with your bios settings won't kill your computer, but changing some of these settings could cause your Boot up to go slower, faster, require several more inputs during bootup, or could make you cry. Write down or rememberize your initial settings before you go changing them. This will save you at least one sleepless night.

(72,300 posts)It's really uncomfortable using my laptop in bed.
My neck and right arm are already screaming at me.
I think I'm in over my head on fixing it this time.

I'm going to have to wait until I get paid for the job I did at the end of September before I can hire him.

It took hours for me to give up this morning.
The computer was working fine at 3AM.
