The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsTomorrow is my birthday I will be 60, don't know how I lived this long.
The big 60.
Time sure flies.
I don't look 60 but that is OK.
I am going off tomorrow and have my day.
Remember when you were a little kid and someone 20 was old.
I am lucky to be here, lots of close calls.
I can now say "Kids get off my lawn" and mean it.

(18,705 posts)Going to drive around the hill country.
No better way to spend the day.
I don't feel almost 60.
Didn't our Grandparents look older or something.

(18,705 posts)Getting close to the end of the year.
Just going to ramble around the FM roads.
Very little traffic.
Take some pictures if I feel like it.

(18,705 posts)My car is good on gas.
Just hit the FM roads mostly.
At best state highways, keeping off the big roads.
Looking for old weathered buildings to take pictures of.

(18,705 posts)Get me some good BBQ somewheres in the hill country.
No shiner beer because I am driving.
I will do that today.
I don't even have gray hair yet.
60 isn't the same as it used to be.

(14,881 posts)with many wonderful reruns. Oh, and have a nice trip down memory lane!
I remember when I was a kid and didn't expect to make it past 30. Yeah, 20 was "old" back then and 30 was when you turned into our parents and became republicans, lol. Except somehow we didn't
I'm jealous of your lack of grey. I was doing pretty well until my last year of med lab tech school, when some of my hair turned white. Now it seems to be regaining some lost color...lots of phytochemicals and antioxidants in my diet these days. Or maybe my eyesight is that much worse...
Get off my lawn. Some day those young'ns will understand why...
texanwitch
(18,705 posts)I wouldn't care one way or another about the hair.
Just so I have some.
I will be a offical old lady.
Going to score some serious senior discounts now.

(14,881 posts)I kind of like my gray; it was that white that worried me because it was clearly stress induced.
My mother never went gray, but I believe that had more to do with dye than anything else and my father was seriously losing hair by the time her was 65, and I'm definitely glad I still have all of mine!
Looking forward to the discounts for sure!
texanwitch
(18,705 posts)I don't feel old.
The hair thing won't bother me.
Happy Birthday to you, 19 days late.

(18,705 posts)I can't think of the name right now.

(18,705 posts)I can say the only sad part is that my birthday is so close to President Kennedy being killed.
I had just turned 10 years old back then.
This is the reason for the road trip.

(46,436 posts)I've been loving being in my 60s. Now, when I turn 70 in three years, I may be singing a different tune.

(18,705 posts)I don't know if I want to be younger now.

(46,436 posts)I absolutely HATED my 40s. Could be circumstances of my life that decade that made it suck, but it was pretty awful.
The older you get, the more bennies. I'll never have to buy another fishing license.
texanwitch
(18,705 posts)The bennies are good.
