(6,154 posts)His jokes are so corny and lifeless that I expect to hear " wah wah waaaahhhh" after many of them. Actually I don't know if he is a conservative prick but he seems to give off that vibe.

(24,262 posts)I remember him as a stand up comedian back in the 70s. He was never funny, still isn't.

(10,893 posts)something was up when my Dad said he didn't like him too much, since he's normally into late-night comedy. I probably sound biased as a stalwart Bush ll detractor, but I never found Leno that funny.

(15,935 posts)And also Carson was so good that everyone else to this day looks so bad.
NBC should just rerun old Carson episodes. I don't think Fallon will be all that good when he takes over.

(10,095 posts)Hey,
Yeah, he actually was pretty funny on there. He has become so bland now I don't even bother.

(4,185 posts)One of his Jay Walking segments.
He's is one of the most genuine and nicest celebrities I've met (I've worked with maybe a 100 or so A's and B's)
He would chat with anyone, passer-by or crew and signed any autograph request.
You would never know he is who he is or has what he has.
Bush interview notwithstanding, he's one of the good ones.

(12,132 posts)obviously I would defer to your direct experience but even before I knew of that I always thought he was probably a big sweetheart. And I remember his stand up being pretty funny back in the days when he worked the clubs three hundred and eighty-eleven nights a year before he was on late night talk.
But his monologues since taking over the Tonight show have been cringe-inducingly unfunny. I haven't laughed once and it got so bad that I quit watching altogether. Letterman does "so lame it's funny" perfectly and I guess that's what Leno has been trying but it's not. It's just lame. His interactions with Kevin Eubanks were just painful. I barely remember when Branford Marsalis was band leader.
Whenever I'm trolling through channels and accidentally land o the Tonight Show I watch just to see if anything has changed and I'm always sad to see it hasn't. I have to move on within minutes.
Letterman, Craig Ferguson and Jimmy Kimmel are all way funnier than Leno. I don't even understand why TTS is the top rated late night show.
The only time Jay Leno is funny nowadays is when Letterman is impersonating him.

(4,185 posts)And agreed. It's mostly unfnunny and I'm more into cable shows.
Craig is hilarious though.
