Today's high was almost 80 degrees! UGH!

(102,119 posts)My my... winter is here....
Texasgal
(17,037 posts)Is that unusual for your area?
The weather is reporting that we "might" even get sleet and freezing rain! Very weird for this area so early!
hlthe2b
(102,119 posts)Not too unusual. We've been known to get a blizzard as early as Halloween some years. By contrast, this is just a smattering.
Texasgal
(17,037 posts)I hope you keep warm! This weather set up is supposed to last a few days! We are so spoiled down here!
:hugs:

(102,119 posts)Only the hardy were out, and admittedly my feet and gloved hands were FROZEN.
She love it though, but is amazingly content to sleep next to me on the sofa-- in front of the fireplace and under a warm throw...
I'll be glad to see the 30s again soon, though.
fizzgig
(24,146 posts)but the roads were nasty earlier. weather bug is telling me it's a glorious 15 degrees right now.

(17,037 posts)And I am complaining about 40's!
Keep warm!
sarge43
(28,940 posts)We had nights with a wind chill of minus 45F. Make sacrifices to the weather gods so there's no power outages. Then, there's ice storms which have their own special pucker factor.

(11,441 posts)Can't wait for Sunday... HIKING!
Texasgal
(17,037 posts)I guess the cold air is coming straight down. We are not supposed to get out of the 40's on saturday!
Enjoy! I like cold weather myself but all this talk about sleet is no good. We cannot drive or seem to do anything in weather like that!
WorseBeforeBetter
(11,441 posts)but I gotta admit I do like being toasty warm in the house and listening to it against the windows. It's very relaxing to me, same as with a good downpour.
RebelOne
(30,947 posts)And the temps on Sunday and Monday are 47 for a high all day.
hobbit709
(41,694 posts)I love it when we get freezing precipitation. The whole town goes into panic mode and drive crazier than normal.
Texasgal

(18,705 posts)Sure hated to leave but the weather was coming.
hobbit709
(41,694 posts)I didn't like it when it was less than half the size it is now when I lived off Bouldin. I'd almost rather go to Whole Paycheck than that HEB.
Texasgal
(17,037 posts)I am in Travis Heights so that store is close to me although I tend to go further out for big grocery shops.
We are neighbors!!!

(17,037 posts)South Austin is the best! I live in my family home... my parents moved to westlake years ago and I bought their house. I grew up here! Love it!
We are so close!!

Houston drivers are crazy all the time.
I would love to be living in Austin but I have a decent job here.
Just curious have you rode the duck boat ride, I love it.
Texasgal
(17,037 posts)so no I haven't done the duck tour. I've been to all those places over and over again! LOL!
Houston however freaks me out!!! I hate the traffic...ofcourse here in Austin it's been getting worse and worse! UGH!
texanwitch
(18,705 posts)It is a fun.
I live in Houston and don't go to anything here either.
I haven't been the space center in years.
I have all my duck boat ride noise makers, a duck's bill.
I ride the duck boat twice a year.
It is a good tour.
I love Austin, Houston is just a place to make a living.
My heart is in Austin.
I drove all over Austin today, didn't want to leave.
Texasgal
(17,037 posts)Maybe we can do lunch or something!

(18,705 posts)This trip wasn't really planned, it just happened.
I just took a few days and went driving, way to much Houston.
Sure wished I could stayed tonight.
Wanted some that Franklin BBQ, is it still there.
That was the best bbq on the planet.
Texasgal
(17,037 posts)and yes.. Franklin is here. Several hour wait for some good food however!
texanwitch
(18,705 posts)The wait is worth it.
I can taste it now, didn't go looking for it either.
I figured if it was still where I remembered it, the line would be to long.
Every go to the Green Mesquite on Barton Spring Rd.
Nice place, feels like Austin.
Locut0s
(6,154 posts)Unusually cold for this time of year. We don't usually see below zero until January.
Texasgal

Locut0s
(6,154 posts)Someone above just said they were getting 17 sonething F in NH. But yeah it's cold if you aren't used to it . Vancouver is actually quite warm for Canada. We don't get much snow here, some years none.

(6,154 posts)Not unusual to see months of rain and overcast with little break through the winter. But then this past summer we had nearly 2 months of not a clound in the sky, wonderful summer. I miss the sun *sniff*
