I've watched Anchorman and Talladega Nights several times, and I loved him on SNL. I'm honestly a little surprised everyone doesn't find him to be hilarious.

While Chase did some good comedy, he went in a direction I just couldn't stand. Farrell seems to have started from Chase's bottom level and dug down. I hate the promos for his movies and have never watched even a few minutes of any movie he's starred in.

The ads Farrell is doing are so bad I don't even know what he's trying to sell - as soon as they come on, I change the channel.

It's a demon-spawn of cross-promotion - Ferrell promotes a sequel to Anchorman (a movie with less to its premise to carry a single movie, let alone a sequel, too) by plugging Dodge vehicles in character.

Will Ferrell is just a reflection of that. I certainly would not go out of my way to watch one of his movies.

But then, like I said, modern comedy has largely died in my eyes.

However, there are some roles for which tedious, loud and boring is right. (i.e. Ron Burgundy)

There are a lot of roles that are right for Jim Carrey's over-the-top mugging, too.

He appeared to have zero inhibitions, and I found that funny. But once he left the show and then began showing up in every single movie being made, his shtick got old.
