There'll be the four of us (me, Lyric, our son, and BetaBen) plus an assortment of Lyric's relatives (sister, cousin, and their respective families... maybe more)
I expect as many as 20 people here... Lyric and i have already started the cooking prep, and are doing the deserts tomorrow.

Since Lyric and i got together in '99, we have always been the focal-point of holiday gatherings involving food...
(Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, New Year's Day, Independence Day, etc...)

She's the 'executive chef' of Chez Us... I proudly serve as her sous!
-- which is a change from my work-life, where i run the kitchen, and the others jump when i bark. *L*

Miz t. talked me into it.
She's made some 'extra' money knitting decorative scarves.

"It's just the two of us. Let's go out for Thanksgiving dinner."
"OK, where?"
"The Beach Club. I'm paying."
"Done."

BTW, I'll be smoking a turkey breast Sunday anyway.
And we'll make some dressing.
I WANT LEFTOVERS!
And turkey-bacon club sandwiches.

Since all of our relatives are now too far away, too dead, or too feuding with us to bother with a traditional Thanksgiving, we've recently started a tradition of marathon movie-series watching. All Alien films one year, all Planets of the Apes the next, etc.

This year we'll be watching all 3 2.5 hour extended edition Lord of the Rings DVD's.

No stress -- bliss!

Three guests will bring something--side or dessert. Traditional turkey dinner with
stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, macaroni & cheese,
broccoli/garlic (cooked in wine), cranberry sauce, cinnamon and crescent rolls, pumpkin
and pecan pie, plus a surprise dessert courtesy of one guest.

I asked her to do the cooking for a change. She is 27 and has never done it before so I'll assist where needed.
One of her friends is cooking and bringing a turkey, so we're making everything else: mashed potatoes with carrots and rutabagas; mashed potatoes with sauteed scallions; stuffing with dried cranberries; cauliflower with cheese sauce; and either a green bean casserole or broccoli.
My husband and I are vegetarians so we're having those breaded stuffed un-turkey roasts from Trader Joe's - they are wonderful. We also got a Trader Joe's frozen pumpkin cheesecake, and we're making an apple pie the day before.

I wish everyone at DU a wonderful and yummy holiday!
