(29,414 posts)Although I wouldn't call either Cloverfield or Sunshine as "must see".
They are missing Ghost in the Shell, and Solyaris, both of which I am surprised are missing from that list.
Also missing that are definitely must-see, The Day the Earth Stood Still (original), The Day of the Triffids, Five Million Years to Earth, and The Day the Earth Caught Fire.

(12,132 posts)for picking that one time when it was my turn to pick the movie we went to see.
In my defense; that year I also picked Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, A Fish Called Wanda, Scrooged, Big and Heathers.
davidpdx
(22,000 posts)I actually happened to see it in the theater. It was a box office flop for sure, but has gained fans since.
The fight scene was one of the best.
OriginalGeek
(12,132 posts)I guess she didn't consider it a "date" movie. lol. She laughs at me for Shakes The Clown too and I love that movie.

(25,667 posts)I liked the ones towards the bottom more than the ones towards the top.
But, I haven't see at least half of the movies listed there. But, still why would the original "Star Wars" be towards the bottom?

(56,848 posts)at 37, 38 and 39 among Sci-Fi movies can't be taken seriously, especially with Return of the Jedi before A New Hope.
And, the original Star Trek movie was basically a suckfest. Wrath of Khan, Voyage Home and First Contact were all much better.

(12,132 posts)but I didn;t count it unless I remembered for sure seeing the whole thing from beginning to end. There were a couple I'm pretty sure I've seen parts of.
I have no desire to see Cloverfield so the best I'll ever do is 49.

(21,925 posts)although I probably saw them and can't remember (Moon, Dark City, Akira, Dark, Star). There are quite a few I would have added but I know there has to be a cut-off point (The Thing From Another World, Fahrenheit 451, The Andromeda Strain, Alphaville, Scanners, The Arrival, Solaris - the original Russian and not the US remake, Fantastic Planet, They Live, and several others).
