It's not as good as Jackson's LOtR trilogy, it's not as grandiose, it's more light hearted etc. But then so is the book it draws from. And the Smeagole section in The Hobbit is genius! I AM somewhat concerned there won't be enough material for another trilogy but we will see how things go.

The first one, I think, Jackson was still in LOTR mode. But he sez he thinks he found his rhythm with this middle film.
