Stange story about two broken cordless phones, and this is true..

Last March, my cordless phone system broke down. It was only 5 years old, but that I found out that is not so bad. These were cheap pieces of crap. So, I was going to go out and buy new ones. I had a cordless phone by this computer, and one in the basement. Those broke..

Two chord phones exist connected to a land line.., one about 20 feet from the computer, in another room on this floor, and one on the first floor. I tend wait till I buy stuff...so a month goes buy and another month and so on, and on and on...and here is the odd part about it..
..................................................................................................................................................................
So the phone rings and I got to get up from the computer and pick up the phone in the next room. I guess it rings 4 times a day when I got to get up and get the phone. Now, lets see...April, May, June, July, Aug, Sept, Oct, and Nov....Let's not count Dec and March.

8 months getting up to get that phone, 30 days a month, average,.....30 x 8 = 240 x (four time a day) 4 = 960...

So, I have gotten up to get the phone about a thousand times in a 8 months when before, the phone was by the computer..I didn't get up at all..........

I am not sure what that means..I think it is a good thing. But I thought I would share this here in the lounge....Say what you think...thanks for letting me share..............................Stuart

But whatever works!

I have a couple of cordless phones but got a phone with a corded handset for my desk for some degree of security (some devices, like cordless headphones and baby monitors, can eavesdrop on cordless phone transmissions).

But the caller ID on the desk phone is too hard to read, so I run to the bedroom or kitchen when the phone rings so I can see who's calling. Exercise accomplished!

For some reason if the phone rings more than twice, 1/2 the time it goes to voice mail and miss the call. If I grab the call on the wireless it's hit and miss. If I use the landline, it works every time. Plus I need my glasses (or a magnifying glass) to read the call display on the wireless - on the landline it's in big numbers.

Hence, I get my exercise sprinting to the kitchen for the only available landline.

So, I am able to pick it up after the walk. I do other exercises too. Some, actually lying in bed. Those help too. I have a bad leg, but I keep trying to get around. I think getting up and down, for no matter what reason, is a good thing. I recall, when I had the phone right near the computer, I would always take it there, and sometimes do two things at once. But even when the call is a sales call,
I get up now..,

Oddly, or whatever, the two phones that still work are pretty old. One is from the 90s, with the buttons in the handset, very good sound quality and somewhat heavy, but works fine. The other is from the early 80s, and is a dial phone. It works well, except when they ask you to punch in a number...well on that one, there is no punching in. By the way, the dial phone was made in Cicero Illinois at a union shop for ATT. (when it was ATT) That factory employed thousands, and sadly, is long gone. And so are all those jobs out of the U.S.A..

When the phone rings, the caller ID shows up on my TV screen because I am usually in front of the TV.
