If we went out after church we'd go to Mexican or seafood and leave a crappy tip (not me - I wasn't in charge of paying back then). I learned 2 things from my shitty baptist upbringing - be an atheist and tipping well is a more positive influence on someone's life than praying. Always.


lol, i just remembered - my mom once confessed to me that if she thought the waitress was being "too flirty" with my step-dad, she'd surreptitiously snatch a few of the dollar bills from the tip on the way out.

We had some regular Sunday after church dinner places but not for fried chicken. That was strictly home or other church-ladies.

El Fenix or the Spanish Galleon - that was our go to Sunday dinners when mom wasn't cooking. (I liked the SG because the entrance looked like a the back end of a big Spanish Galleon ship - and they had the best clam chowder)

I can't stand the throngs of pasty, overdressed old white people that descend from the hills into the Cracker Barrels and Red Lobsters every Sunday. You cannot get home cookin' anywhere but at home (exceptions made for Mrs Wilkes Boarding House in Savannah). Chain restaurants don't add up. You've got to have a few grandmothers locked in the back of your restaurant for it to approach anything close to good home cookin'
