Most of us here see ourselves as fellow members who have much in common even when we may disagree. But we have a few who may have a different perspective...

I've never cared about having the last word and I generally forfeit it right away(especially in RL). Social anxiety is part of it, I don't know why I don't often challenge things I know are wrong. I do sometimes but without a nearby computer w/ internet or some source to check facts to see who is right it is pointless arguing over facts for a significant amount of time.

Some like to change the subject that is similar to the topic but is more agreeable--which doesn't make the person's original point any more correct. I play along because I don't like to argue much.
