Meet "Alaska"
Some of you may remember my post about a starving feral kitten I brought in after I saw her on my patio on Thanksgiving day. We named her "Alaska."
http://www.democraticunderground.com/1018539244 I FINALLY figured out how to do pictures and I wanted to show you her progress. She's a LITTLE better in letting us touch her but still not crazy about the human touch. Here is Ms. Alaska in pictures This is Her Highness right after she came indoors: ![]() ![]() Here's her and my older cat, Erica, who is the one who enticed her to come in. They're BFF's: ![]() And here is the latest of her snuggling up to Erica in my not-yet-made-up-bed. You can see how much she's grown and she LOVES "her" Erica: ![]()

2. You give me hope.
If I get a chance to pick her up, she doesn't squirm and sometimes will even purr, but you can tell she'd rather be someplace else. However, she likes to sleep on my stuff, shoes, hat, purse, whatever she can find so she must like my scent.
You can't tell it from the photos but she's got a grey "skid mark" on top of her head. I keep telling myself I'm only fostering her. Uh huh. |

3. Agree, you can feel the tenseness in their body, even if they don't try to escape
your holding her...
In my case we moved several times, so Rompystompy (named him that when he tried to leap onto kitchen cabinets, slid down into the dishwater and flew out, knocking the spaghetti plate, full of spaghetti, I was holding onto the floor) he was forever hiding for fear of moving again...so it might not take that long for your Ms. Alaska to come around...at least I hope not. |

5. She is very cute!
Looks like she is starting to make herself at home! Your other kitty must be very friendly.

6. Love the story,
love the Kitties,
but I really love that drop down desk. Can I have it? . . . . . Just kidding, but I'm making some sketches, and something like it may be my next project. Your gray Tabby looks exactly like our female mouser, Maggie Pie. |

8. My husband actually made that along with a smaller version for my studio
Since I'm now an "expert" at posting photos (after a mere 13 years here), here's some better pictures of the whole unit, both with the desk part down and up:
