I've been that close to a living moose only once, i was walking through an old wood cutting to take a shortcut and a fairly large bull moose got up from behind a big stump and walked around it right towards me. I kneeled down behind a bush and he looked at me and walked by. No more than 4 feet away from me. I thought I was in for a stomping, no where to run, no where to hide...
