Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsThe hospital just sent me a death notice for one of my patients.
First one in a while.
I didn't know him very well. I only visited with him three times. He had a lot of issues, drug use foremost among them, and he was not-compliant with his treatment plan.
He was taken to the hospital two days ago with severe pneumonia. They tried to treat him, but he spiraled. He had a do not resuscitate order in place, so they made him comfortable, and he died yesterday.
He must have had a miserable life. He's not in pain anymore.

(37,481 posts)I've had two patients die on me. One was a cardiac death, and one was...yes I'm serious...shot by her estranged enraged husband.

We all are reminded to hold our loved ones a little closer. Each day is a treasure.
