http://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/mar/21/kate-bush-announces-first-series-of-shows-since-1979Too bad it ain't happening in the US. I've been a fan since I first saw her on Saturday Night Live way back in the late '70s. She just totally blew me away.

Kate is a brilliant artist, and I love her, but I also think she was a little naive.

(2,805 posts)Some people (not necessarily across the pond) clutched their pearls over her announcement poster. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2586774/Plane-inappropriate-Kate-Bushs-unfortunate-comeback-photo-rescued-sea-search-continues-missing-Malaysian-jet.html
I love so many of her songs it would be hard to pick a "fantasy" concert set list. Maybe they will record the shows and release some version of them. I'd love to hear her now.

(6,107 posts)I knew that Kate Bush was a pioneer. I didn't know that she also discovered sea rescues.

(2,805 posts)I didn't realize that she never toured (according to the link of OP).
I knew critics either loved her or hated her but didn't know she never really promoted her music. She has some great lyrics and beautiful music that should have gotten a wider audience. I don't listen to music the way I used to and am going to see what she released in the last ten years. A distinctive voice is a great thing and is what I miss in the current pop music.
Thanks for the pic. CD's destroyed the album cover era.

I'm right there with you on her distinctive voice. She has never fallen in with musical trends. Because of this, some of her material is a bit challenging to access for the first time, admittedly, but it's never boring.
And God, I miss album covers, too. If only they still packaged CDs like they used to package LPs--with all the art, stickers, posters, temporary tattoos, lyrics, etc. Kids today don't realize how much better they could have it.

(6,107 posts)She's apparently afraid of flying and wants to stick around England. Sucks for the US fans, but there you have it.

(30,252 posts)It's not uncommon for prog-rockers to try their hand at jazz, but Kate's approach towards the softer side of jazz - and the subject matter of that song - knocked me to the floor.
Reminded me a little of Ulver's transition from its early black metal years into their current soundscape, which is still pushing its own boundaries.

(6,107 posts)and Them Heavy People were her numbers. Eric Idle hosted that night. My understanding is that she was terrified to go out there and perform for a live national audience in the US, but she ended up being simply amazing.
I was just a dumb kid in the rural hinterlands who tuned into SNL once a week for a few well-needed laughs. I didn't expect to have my musical mind blown that night, but it was. I've been a huge fan ever since.
