imo: we often forget our problems while we're helping others. I know I do.

While one could get angry thoughts, destructive thoughts or even have a pity party it will not improve one's frame of mind. But if you volunteer at a shelter, food pantry, read to seniors at nursing homes, walk dogs at a shelter etc you will realize how many out there have huge problems. Your volunteering may ease their trouble and take your mind off your own.

Overcoming a broken heart means making your life better than what it was before. It's not about revenge.

I disagree with the hook-up and tequila suggestions up thread, but to each their own.

If you like tinkering, then order a raspberry pi kit and go. If you like baking, make thirty pies and give them away. If your thing is stoner comedies, break out the Cheech & Chong and Harold & Kumar. If it's dancing or video games or hiking, get to it.

Absorbing activities are a form of loving oneself, and you're the only person you absolutely have to live with, so make sure you're a good companion to yourself. Doing what you love validates you.

It's really difficult to think of anything else when you are learning to dance because you have to concentrate on what you are doing. Plus, you meet new people, exercise and listen to music.
