A separate elephant story.

Lota. Many may have heard of her. For those that want the end of the Lota story, she finally had a few months at a sanctuary.
For some final video of Lota (with Misty as star)

Lota backstory ( after the Ziggy story) : http://www.elephants.com/lota/LotaMistyMedia.php
I remember protesting about the treatment of Lota. It was about 10 degrees outside . Bob Barker, Kevin Nealon (and Kay, a normal type person) and about 100 of us. And Bob Barker without a hat !! To no avail though. O well.
I sort of remember a pbs story where a goat was such good friends with a donkey that, after the donkey went blind, the goat would take him ( lead him) out into the woods to eat. The end , as are many things. bitter sweet.

I could be wrong on it being a donkey and goat. Might have been goat and dog, or dog and goat. Or similar.

(18,124 posts)animals really are the only creatures I feel joy at being around. 5 cats and 1 pointer-setter mix breed give me happiness in life.
took care of a feral colony for years. When I lost my home I found sanctuaries and farms for them. They all are still doing well.

(9,126 posts)When tragedy struck, you still thought of your loved ones. You are a hero! Anyone who shows that much love and devotion is very special.

(1,269 posts)I had 2 mares who used to graze muzzle to muzzle. One day my ex came over and stole the one, an ex-racehorse. The other mare just stood in that field with her head down and looking off, for days and days. God but it was sad. I finally got her back after a few months, and on they go, inseparable still.
