Our dog had to wear one after she chewed and licked a hole in her hind leg. She didn't seem to mind it too much, though she kept running into doorways and furniture with the edge.

Marnie's is because she was spayed on Friday and they don't want her bothering her sutures. She's been put on crate arrest for a week, because she was too active despite my best attempts to keep her quiet and it was causing some sort of fluid to leak out of the incision area. She is only supposed to be going out for brief potty breaks. She is not a happy camper. This sutures are supposed to be removed next Wednesday. Then hopefully she can go back to normal. She also is bumping into things frequently and keeps shoving the cone as hard as she can into the backs of my legs.

to calm her down. Many DUers have recommended pheromones to calm anxious cats and dogs. The collar might help keep her cone on, too.

especially if the vet doesn't give her the all clear on Wednesday! I am sure hoping she will be able to get the sutures removed so she can go back to being her nutsy but lovable self.

She's stuck with the cone until next Wednesday and is also on crate arrest until then. She is just such an exuberant personality that the vet said he thinks that is the only way to keep her quiet enough to heal properly.

The tape is Velcro strips so that you can adjust the fit of the cone. She has had two cones so far. We had to go back to the vet hospital because her incision was leaking. The vet on duty thought the one she first had was too small. I think this one is too big. She actually slipped out of it and it was heck trying to get it back on her.

of feral cats that I care for, with only 1 that I can pet, and who shows no signs of wanting to come indoors. So I think it is a good bet she will be spared this particular indignity. I love that picture.

had to wear one of those for a whole month so she wouldn't scratch her eye. That was an interesting month, but we got through it.

Glad to hear you made it through. I don't remember it being this bad when we got the last one spayed but she was a lower key personality than Marnie and my Mom was still alive and with us. Between her mother vibe and head nurse air of authority Maxie had no choice but to be an obedient patient. Too bad I can't channel my Mom for Marnie.
