(72,300 posts)It wasn't a good idea. Mr. ITW was shaking while he was riding. He really tried but he finally gave up so we sold 'em. He's happy to be on the back seat of the Honda 2100cc.

(72,300 posts)It was my only form of personal transportation for two years. I gave up riding when I moved north but hearing the motors hum outside my window was too much to ignore.
In a car you're always in a compartment, and because you're used to it you don't realize that through that car window everything you see is just more TV. You're a passive observer and it is all moving by you boringly in a frame.
On a cycle the frame is gone. You're completely in contact with it all. You're in the scene, not just watching it anymore, and the sense of presence is overwhelming.

No, we have a little toy commonly referred to 'as a hole in water where you throw your money'. That's our joy now. Kids are too little for riding.
