Mean people are talking about me behind my back!

Wah! I'm 43 and this is the kind of crap going on in my office, perpetrated by people older than me. I try to just ignore it, stay focused on my responsibilities, remember how lucky I am to have such a wonderful family to come home to, and realize that often people are mean because they are so unhappy. But sometimes, it just hurts my feelings.

Where are the emoticons?

...and spellcheck?

I imagine this will be changed in the future. There is no spell check yet.

And just a bad environment in general. It's a shame because there's some really great work going on and our contituents are wonderful.

And look them square in the eye and say "Piss on all of you!"

Jess kidding. Kill em with kindness one day. Be totally silent the next. Keep em guessing, keep em uncertain.

Bring cookies one day. Snub them all the day after. And talk into your cell phone in whispers, then they'll all stop talking to listen to you and wonder what YOU'RE saying.

Have fun with those mere, petty children and remember, the Lounge LOVES you.

Had to deal with lots of crazies over the years. I learned to make THEM crazy instead. It's really fun!

Hope that makes you feel a little better.

Not really. You know I kid. I'm just trying to liven up the mood here. We all love you and that's what counts.

Damn, you've really had a rough couple of days. You got a vacation coming soon, I hope?

About 15 years ago, I worked as a retail sales clerk. You'd figure that would have to be a low-stress job, right? Wrong. Soon after I began my new job, I went on a diet and lost 20 lbs. (I have to be a braggart here and say that, at the time, I looked damned good). Apparently, some people don't like it when you lose alot of weight and look good, because a rumor was started about me. It was a wild one; it was rumored that I was having an extramarital affair with someone who worked in the store next to ours. What really blew my mind is that everybody believed it! At the time, I'd been married 11 years and had never even been tempted to be with anyone other than my husband.

When I'd worked there long enough I was up for a promotion. I was very qualified for it and it was my "turn" for it, but I didn't get it because of my "morals". Now that was a horrible place to work and people who didn't even know me hated me. Don't worry; you'll get a new job eventually and it'll all be in the past where it belongs.

Seriously, though, I had a job like that only they did it behind my back as well as make up shit to my face. Long story short, I haven't been in the office for years, but they pay me every month. So there is hope.

at the people and say "ouch, that really hurt". Apparently your regular office bullies don't know what to say to that since they have been doing all the talking behind your back.

If it is more insidious than that I would get out of there....because you can't get away from abuse while you are at work so it can do damage to your health if you stay. Take care of yourself.
