Although the final scene of Bridge over the River Kwai is one of the most powerful endings in film history, I slightly give the nod to the cynicism of Stalag 17. Plus you know who (for those who have not seen it) makes a great nazi spy.

Also, TCM showed "The Password Is Courage" a few months ago, and it's basically the same story as "The Great Escape" though less serious. Dirk Bogarde was great

22. "The Seed And the Sower" is the novel MCML was based on.

It's my favorite book. Incredible read; lyrical, haunting, heartbreaking.

Tom Conti's Lawrence refers to the title in his final conversation with Sergeant Hara: "It is as if Celliers, by his death, sowed a seed in Captain Yonoi, that we might all benefit from its growth" - (from memory; it may not be strictly word-for-word).

...about some escaped German Nazis prisoners who were surreptitiously working their way across Canada. They came across a German Hutteright colony and were welcomed. The difference between the socialist colony and the Nazi officers soon became evident.

I don't know the name of this film unfortunately.

Female POW's held by the Japanese on Sumatra. It's good, but not as good as Bridge on the River Kwai.

is that no Americans were amomg the prisoners who escaped. They worked pn the tunnels, but were moved before they were finished.
