I think a large pea-sized one for me ? Hurt like shit. My car was pummelled in 1992 by marble-sized hail, pretty much ruined its good looks.

(23,233 posts)...at just under 11,000 feet elevation. Started out pea-size, but after about 15 minutes, they were marble-size! We tried to hide under a pine tree, but it wasn't much protection. We were literally IN the cloud that was producing it, at about 2:30 in the afternoon. It lasted about 30 minutes, and my skull felt like it was getting beaten with a hammer! DAYUM, it hurt! The rest of my body didn't feel as bad, but it sure stung like hell to take that pounding. By evening, my whole body was black & blue! Bad thing was, after that beating, we still had to climb the rest of the way up the mountain (another 800 feet or so), set up a camp , and eat dinner before it got dark. We were all sore as hell by bedtime, and all the next day. It was a highlight of the trip, and my friends & I still talk about it. But I wouldn't want do it again.

(30,947 posts)through Texas on the way to California. We were in a deserted area and a hail storm hit us. The passenger side window was broken and I was pelleted with hail. They were pea-sized, but they stung like hell when they hit me.

(55,008 posts)there was a little Naugahyde roof but it didn't provide full protection. they were close to an inch - pummeled us for about 10 minutes and then BUCKETS of water for another 20.
