It should be abolished. Also, no beer lighter in shade than Obama's new suit should be sold in this country.

(10,418 posts)My beer this evening is a pleasant hue of brown. I gave up beer entirely before I realized that I needed it for medicinal purposes.

(10,418 posts)The beer has to have less than 500 calories per 12 ounces or I start worrying about staying in football shape.
Actually, I haven't gotten into the black beers, yet. I don't like Guinness, but I have to admit that I haven't done much experimenting in that realm of beer indulgence.

(60,022 posts)Not all that caloric. I lost 60 lbs 3 years ago and kept it off....it is all about portion size! These big dark ones are so rich my wife and I split a bottle as a sipper predinner!
It may be sacrilege, but American microbrews are far better to us than the big better known brewers...including Guinness. Though we certainly wouldn't refuse a pint!

(14,400 posts)I love IPA's but come autumn I really start into the Octoberfests.
One of my favorites and one of the best I've ever had anywhere some really beautiful malts with just enough hop to let you know it's there. Absolutely delicious.
