sewage backed up into basement this pm

good things first....none of the animals are hurt, I'm not hurt (sweaty and smelly tho) and I already called the insurance company after I took a lot of pictures. First rain in 2/ 3 weeks and my side of the street gets sewage back up. ...the cats are NOT happy about the floating litter pans (and I'm not either). This holiday will be memorable. Sigh

It's a bitch getting storm water… I can't imagine sewage… It'll have to get better from here, eh?

*sigh* poor cats are upset, even with the sewage bilge gone, I'm sure their noses are overwhelmed with the various smells.

The cat is afraid of thunder and hides behind a toilet, in a bathtub, or this this time, hugging the bottom step of the stairs heading into the basement.

get some clorox! what is it about Labor Day? two years ago we had our gas shut off because of a leak that had obviously been going on for more than a year (in open ground mostly down by the barn - by the freaking METER, probably damaged the pipe when THE GAS CO was doing work on their main line)

because of money and beaurocracy, we were without gas for a couple of months until I finally located the "guy" - the good old boy who knew the "deal" - that we were ag exempt and could do the repairs ourselves. It was going to cost thousands to have a plumber do it from 60 miles away - he wanted 200/day just for travel! fuck that shit, I was ready to switch to all electric.

anyway, good luck getting dried out and cleaned up, hope there isn't any real permanent damage - and the clorox will kill anything nasty.

damaged cardboard, damaged kitty litter is out, dirty laundry is being twice washed. I am blessed, the animals are okay (one cat is upset about the floating litter pans) and I am not hurt, but in the bigger view..it's okay.
